Boston, Massachusetts, Overview The Office of the Dean is responsible for the academic and administrative functions of Tufts University School of Medicine, including overseeing the School’s academic departments, the teaching and research enterprises, student services, and campus buildings and facilities. The primary responsibilities of the Office of the Dean include financial and strategic planning, resource allocation, faculty recruitment, interface with clinical affiliates, and other management responsibilities related to the function of a large and diverse medical school. What You’ll Do The Director of Communications and Marketing develops and implements an integrated communications and marketing strategy that promotes the goals, values and the mission of the school or division consistent with the strategic communications and marketing objectives of the university.   The Director provides leadership, oversight, and execution for a broad range of internal and external strategies to promote the School of Medicine to a variety of audiences, increasing the visibility and reputation of the school.

The Director provides communications, public relations, and/or marketing expertise and planning for senior leadership, administrators, division/school faculty, and other constituents, and represents the interests of the school in all relevant university-wide committees and working groups. S/he oversees design and development of high quality, effective messaging, materials, and publications, and develops and oversees the TUSM website and social media strategies.   S/he manages communications and marketing budgets; hires, trains and manages staff as well as consultants and vendors; and develops strategic and on-going work plans. What We’re Looking For Basic Requirements: Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a Bachelor’s degree in related area of study and 10+ years of professional communications experience Proven track record of successfully conceptualizing and executing communications and marketing strategies and initiatives Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong attention to detail, skilled at problem solving and decision making Ability to thrive in a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment that necessitates managing multiple priorities Excellent management skills, regardless of reporting relationships, and ability to create strong, effective teams Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree and experience in higher education setting strongly preferred.
