Mosaic Theater Company produces six full productions, year-round new play development activities, and robust community and audience engagement programs each season at the historic Atlas Performing Arts Center in northeast Washington, DC.

The role (in a nutshell):
The primary functions of this role are to establish and lead a multi-channel communications and audience development strategy including all external communications activities including emails, print, media and public relations and press. Our Director of Communications directly controls the flow of information between our organization and our patrons and community.
How you’ll spend your days:
Creatively collaborate with theater leadership in developing strategy.
Leading the marketing team, and all necessary departments to develop strategic communication plans designed to reach our target audiences and grow brand affinity and awareness
Managing and measuring ongoing communication campaigns, including social media, based on established KPIs.
Ensuring all communication materials are informative and ensuring a consistent brand message and audience engagement in all communications
Develop and manage the publications/print calendar, track publications, budgets, and expenses
Copywriting, editing and review of all large communications to patrons and donors for spelling, grammar, and brand cohesion
Manage all theater PR and media relations in conjunction with theater leadership
Collaborate with Artistic Director and Director of Engagement on strategic partnerships and audience engagement programs
Review vendor bids and assist with managing select vendor relationships (as needed)
Develop crisis communications plans (as needed)
Assisting with other projects as assigned

Our ideal candidate:
Creative strategic leader
Has a minimum of 3-5 years of communications, marketing, public relations, or related experience
Experience with developing and executing effective communications strategies (bonus points for having done so in a non-profit, arts, or entertainment space)
Experience leading teams (managing staff, interns, and colleagues) and collaborating with others on high-level projects
Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities
Experience creating and managing digital content
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and MailChimp

It is an added plus if you have :
A degree in communications, marketing, public relations, English, business, or a related field is preferred
Experience as a Director of Communications, assistant Director of Communications, communications manager, or a similar role is a plus
Established media relations is a plus
Arts and entertainment experience is a wonderful asset, but not required
Experience with Patron Manager software

Base salary range starting at $70,000
