Pet Industry Distributors Association

Remote, The Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) seeks a full-time Director of Meetings & Marketing for our small, independent, not-for profit trade association. This is a newly created position and is fully remote. PIDA’s president is based near King of Prussia, PA, and its Manager of Member & Attendee Engagement is based near Bel Air, MD. Strong preference will be given to candidates within driving distance of PIDA’s president in PA to in order to regularly meet in person.

Primary Responsibilities:
Meeting Planning for the Pet Industry Leadership Summit

Manage and direct hotel and audio-visual coordination (planning and on site).
Coordinate marketing program with our third party vendors and marketing committee, which is made up of staff from each of our partner associations.
Serve as primary liaison to speaker’s bureau for paid keynotes and industry sessions with partners, which are selected by the four partner CEOs.
Coordinate with vendors to manage tours, decorations, entertainment and golf outing.

Marketing

Develop and maintain web sites and social media content for PIDA and Pet Store Pro.
Support development of general membership communication.
Participate in strategic planning and marketing with PIDA president and outside consultant.
Attend PIDA distributor member customer shows (responsibility shared among all staff) to promote Pet Store Pro.

  R equirements:
Education and Experience  – Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of previous experience in association and meeting planning preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:  

A comprehensive understanding of event protocol to ensure the seamless execution of event(s).
Experience collaborating with vendors and arranging for contracted services.
Proven negotiation skills and business acumen are strongly preferred.
Strong project management expertise: attention to detail, organization, prioritization and analytical skills with a proven ability to multi-task and manage complexity.
Positive team-player with exceptional customer service attitude.
Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
Strong knowledge of web-based technology and social media platforms required.

Travel – Out-of-state travel 8–10 times per year for planning and attending the Pet Industry Leadership Summit, Global Pet Expo, SuperZoo, Distributors Customer Show and as needed for other events as requested by the president. Salary is based on experience. Include salary requirements when applying.
